STUDENTS

Kevin McCleod

Kevin McLeod

Kevin is a second year student attending the University of Calgary. He is taking a degree in Health Sciences and majoring in Biomedical Sciences. For our project he has been working with both agarase and our expression logic circut.

Boris Shabash

Boris Shabash

Boris is a third year student attending the University of Calgary. He is taking a degree in Health Sciences and majoring in Bioinformatics. He is responsible for the EvoGEM portion of our project.

Patrick King

Patrick King

I am a third year Bioinformatics student in the BHSc program, at the University of Calgary. I was introduced to iGEM in '06, but only properly participated in the competition with our project in '07.

This summer has been an incredible experience for me, I've learned a ton about molecular biology and its techniques. I've also come to appreciate the good and bad about the Biobricks standard and the registry as it is today. I don't think I will be participating in iGEM as a contestant again, but I will definitely be following the competition (and perhaps helping out) in the future.

Dave Curran

Dave Curran

Dave is a fourth year student attending the University of Calgary. He is taking a degree in Health Sciences and majoring in Biomedical Sciences. He is responsible for the logic circut part of our project.

Vlad Lavrovsky

Vlad Lavrovsky

Vlad Lavrovsky is a 4th year Bioinformatics major. He has been interested in synthetic biology for a long time and has worked on a wide range of molecular biology projects including GFP refolding and directed evolution of alkane degrading enzymes. Vlad constructed the UofC iGEM teams two dimentional plotter and worked on cloning agarase. He hopes to work in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries upon graduating.

Andrew Stagg - picture pending

Adrew Stagg

Andrew is a forth year computer science and business student at U of C, currently working at Google in Mountain View, CA, developing software for their server infrastructure. For our project he built the hardware interface application PlotterPilot that allows are printer to operate.

Paul Adamiak

Paul Adamiak

Paul Adamiak is a fourth year Bioinformatics student at the University of Calgary. He joined with the iGEM team this year for two main reasons. The first was to learn more about the field of synthetic biology and the second was to explore what types of work were available to someone with a background in both computer science and biology. He has been responsible for building the University of Calgary 2007 iGEM Team Webiste.
