NYMU Taipei/Materials/Two component system for glucose sensing in E. coli/The OmpR-EnvZ two-component system

From 2007.igem.org

The OmpR-EnvZ two-component system has been studied extensively in Escherichia coli and Salmonella.

  • The response regulator OmpR is involved in regulating numerous cell functions, including the expression of ompF and ompC porin genes, motility, biofilm formation, adaptation to acidic conditions, and virulence.
  • In E. coli and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium,
    • ompF is expressed under low-osmolarity conditions, while
    • ompF is repressed and ompC expression increases under high-osmolarity conditions.
