From 2007.igem.org

I am a member of the 2007 University of Cambridge iGEM team.

Currently I am a first-year PhD student in the Engineering Design Centre in Cambridge University Engineering Department. I graduated in June 2007 from a four-year Bachelor's/Master's in Engineering programme also at Cambridge, specialising in information and computer engineering (with a module in Computational and Systems Biology).

In my spare time I enjoy building robots and other mechatronic devices and working on outreach projects to bring science and engineering to others.

I have always been interested in biology as well as the physical sciences (I took biology A level and competed in the International Biology Olympiad in Latvia in 2002), though I had little practical experience of wet-lab work before beginning the iGEM project. I enjoyed it tremendously!
