In the spring semester of 2007, a Synthetic Biology Reading Course was offered.

Purpose:

  1. Introduce the central concepts and intellectual toolkit of the emerging discipline of Synthetic Biology.
  2. Provide a survey of existing knowledge with the intent of using that as a base for innovative yet practical applications of Synthetic Biology.
  3. Entice undergraduate students to be excited about and join the iGEM team and more generally, into the practice of research.
