Supervisor:
Prof. Stephen Davies (IBBME/ECE)
- N/A
Graduate Students:
Seema Nagaraj (IBBME/ECE)
Isaac Li (Physical Chemistry)
- Isaac Li received M.A.Sc from IBBME, UT in 2007 on Stochastic simulation of cellular reactions. He is currently working towards Ph.D in the area of single molecule force spectroscopy to understand the folding mechanism of proteins in the Department of Chemistry at U of T.
Daniel Wong (IBBME)
- Daniel Wong received the B.A.Sc degree in engineering science from the University of Toronto, Canada in 2005. Doing research at the Cochlear Implant Laboratory at the Hospital for Sick Children, he is currently working towards his M.A.Sc degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Toronto. His interests include medical imaging, signal processing, and systems modeling.
Charles Yoon (IBBME)
- Charles studies cardiac stem cells at the IBBME, and organizes BlueGenes as well. When he's not busy at school, he enjoys playing squash and dragonboating.
Undergraduate Students:
Neha Ahmed (Life Sciences: Human Biology)
- N/A
Faareha Khalid (Life Sciences: Human Biology)
- N/A
Esther Kim (Life Sciences: Human Biology, English)
- Esther is in her fourth year of study at the University of Toronto. Any time outside of school work is usually spent gaming, eating, gaming, eating, reading, and sleeping, usually in that order. On certain occasions she can be found practicing Tai Chi with the U of T Tai Chi club (usually when the scale reads too high), or writing novels that will never be published ("This will be a masterwork of fantasy! It'll have...hobbits! Wait, what do you mean this was already published?").
Talal Latif (Life Sciences: Human Biology)
- N/A
Conrad Lochovsky (Engineering Science: Biomedical Option)
- N/A
Jovan Lukovich (Engineering Science: Biomedical Option)
- N/A
Yusuf Majumder (Life Sciences: Human Biology)
- N/A
Shuvadeep Mitra (Life Sciences: Human Biology)
- N/A
Adnan Najmi (ECE)
- N/A
Elliott Sales de Andrade (Engineering Science: Physics Option)
- Elliott is currently in his third year in the Engineering Science program, specializing in the Physics Option. Even though he's only taken one biomedical course ever, he's still fairly interested in pushing the boundaries in the iGEM competition. Although iGEM and his courses keep him terribly busy, in his short spare time, he may be found gaming, computing, or just generally just wasting time (in the most educational sense of the term, of course).
Maria Soloveychik (Life Sciences: Biochemistry)
- N/A
Nimalan Thavandiran (Engineering Science: Biomedical Option)
- Nimalan Thavandiran will be soon completing his B.A.Sc. in Engineering Science with a specialization in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. He is currently at the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering looking at the genetic and electrophysiological characterization of human Embryonic Stem Cell-derived cardiomyocytes. He helped found and organize the Undergraduate Nanotechnology Conference 2007 held in North America, and has presented his research at various conferences including the Karolinska Institute International Exchange Conference for Developmental Biology. He is very much interested in genetic engineering and the initiatives iGEM has created for the field.
Natalie Yeung (Life Sciences: Immunology, Life Sciences: Psychology, Environment and Society)
- I'm a fan of learning new things, and so this is my fifth ("bonus") year of undergraduate study. On the rare occasions that I'm not studying or doing BlueGenes-related stuff, I can often be found playing cello or hugging trees (in a figurative sense, most of the time).
Anam Yunus (Chemical Engineering)
- N/A
Rafsan Zaman (ECE)
- N/A
Mimi Zhang (Life Sciences: Developmental Biology, English)
- I am a 4th year studying Developmental Biology and English. This is my first time participating in the iGEM competition. When I am not working or studying, I enjoy rowing, architecture, and Bon Jovi.
Kirill Zubovsky (Mechanical and Industrial Engineering)
- Kirill is a third year Industrial Engineering student. Although his knowledge of biology is limited to one eng. biology course that he's currently taking, his excitement and desire to see the team succeed goes far beyond. At school, Kirill is a busy guy. When he's not doing his homework, he's usually running the Cannon (http://cannon.skule.ca ), the official UofT Engineering newspaper, and doing aikido among other things.
