To do this, we coustruct two E coli populations. E coli A send a singal to call E. coli B, and B get together to make a sheprical cluster by way of the flagella coupling. E coli B also contains another circuit to sense the size of the cluster (the diameter of Marimo) and turn on/ off the sticky-fragella formation. Thus we can control the size of marimo.

Marimo Bacteria

Our iGEM project is to make E.coli get together (mediate between flagellar) and shape like Marimo. Marimo is a Japanese translation of Cladophora ball, Lake Ball, or Moss Balls.

To sense the diameter of Marimo, we are consindering to use the concentration gradient of signal molecule (AHL).

CURRENTLY, WE ARE THINKING THE FOLLOWING CONSTRUCT AS OF TODAY (8/6/2007).
