Week 6

Monday 6th August 2007

So here is my little ditty,
About commuting in the city,
Drivers are crazy,
Commuters are lazy,
And the weather is always... pants.

Tuesday 7th August 2007

Met the Edinburgh team! They visited our turf which gave us a great excuse to have the afternoon off. We started with a quick tour of the lab and introductions all round before promptly heading to the pub for drinks and 2-for-1 pizzas. And as if that wasn't good enough, free shots of schnapps with every dessert! Feeling full, we made our way to another 'authentic' old pub (complete with lighting à la candles and derriere-sized holes in the seats) at which point Rachel had to leave for a driving lesson.

The rest of us moved on to Kelvingrove Park to relax in the sunshine. After a bit of indulging our tree-climbing inner children, Sarah from the visiting side remembered she had a prior engagement and said goodbye. A bit of conker-throwing (Joe started the game, but Pradeep seemed to have the most fun hurting us), rock-paper-scissors from Da and Xiaonan, and some apple-flavoured delights later the wind started to blow, calling time on our adventures. It was around this time that Alistair realised he'd left his jacket in the pub, so Christine and Caroline accompanied him back to get it.

I think I speak for the group when I say that we had a really good time and enjoyed meeting the other side. We'll be sure to call on them, especially while the [http://www.edfringe.com/ Fringe] is still on!

Oh, and Maciej fell out of a tree.

Ode to Tuna Crunches
Oh my tuna crunches,
You get me through my lunches,
The shop sells you in bunches,
And how you stop my munches.
White or brown,
Inverts my frown,
I gobble you down,
Frown upside down, laughing like a clown.
The public for you begs
Almost better than se...gs
And you'd run if you had legs
So you wouldn't end up in Greggs.

Christine, tired of freezing sandwiches, decides to go for canned food instead. Soup is apparently a filling and economical alternative to bread-based sustenance.

Spirits are high - it looks like we might have successfully made some biobricks!

"Metroku"

Sudoku, sudoku, sudoku,
So many numbers, we haven't a clue!
In each square,
We don't know where,
Alas, the pub we shall go to.

Enjoy!
A haikü:

The best sudokus
Have travelled from place to place
Mine live in my bag

Say aye tae a pie!

Today our resident sandwich expert had to eat her words, and kindly bought some [http://www.greggs.co.uk/ Greggs] delicacies for Lynsey and Scott.

Tuna crunch.
